Hubert Edward Broom

Died Overseas

Hubert Edward Broom S 2/c pictured above died in a Naval hospital at Pearl Harbor on October 5, 1945. His parents, Mr. & Mrs. L. P. Broom of Monroe Rt. 6 have received a citation from the President in memory of their son.

Seaman Broom was 23 years old, and was in service only about four months. The exact cause of his death has not been learned. He was taken from the ship in an unconscious condition from which he never rallied. Though never strong physically, the family felt no concern over his condition, as they did another son who went through the thick of the fighting in the ETO without a scratch.

He is survived by his parents, two brothers, Messrs. Art and Douglass Broom. and one sister, Miss Phyllis Broom.
