William Hall Crow

PRIVATE WILLIAM HALL CROW; SERIAL NUMBER 14060055

Private William Hall Crow, the son of Mrs. Lotta Crow Burgess and the late William Crow of Waxhaw, was born September 27, 1905, Union County, Waxhaw, North Carolina.

Funeral Services for Private Crow of Charlotte and Waxhaw was held on March 22, 1944 at the Waxhaw Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. J.B. Fritzgerald. His body was laid to rest in the Waxhaw Cemetery with military honors.

Private Crow was a graduate of Waxhaw High School and King’s Business College. Before entering service he worked as a hosiery mill mechanic. He joined the Army Air Corp on August 12, 1941, Barksdale Field, Louisiana. In 1942, he was transferred to Foster Field, Texas. Private Crow was married in Charlotte on March 11, 1944, to Mrs. Sally Quinn Nicholson of 611 East Kingston Avenue. The Marriage took place at the home of Mrs. Nicholson’s mother, J.B. Quinn on East Kingston. The following Friday, March 17, his bride received a telephone call from the commandering office of Foster Field, Texas that Private Crow was fatally injured upon the day he returned to his station of the Army Air Base. Details of the accident were not available at that time.

Suriving brothers are, Frank H. Crow, Earl Crow, Sergeant Harry B. Crow stationed at Camp Cook, California, and Sergeant Jummy Crow stationed at Fort Ord, California.
