PVT. BENNIE GOODMAN

Pvt. Bennie Goodman son of Mrs. Johnnie P. Goodman of Monroe was killed in action December 23, 1944 while serving with tank destroyers, U. S. Ninth Army. He entered service February 9, 1944 from Monroe, trained at Camp Hood, Texas, Ft. Jackson, Camp Breckinridge, Ky. and went overseas September 26, 1944. He was 19 years old.

Additional notes:  Recent research indicates that Pvt. Goodman's parents were Charles 'Charlie' Levi Goodman and Johnnie Goodman (Johnnie being her name). His unit in WWII was Company C, 820th Tank Destroyer Battalion.  His WWII draft registration card gives his county of birth as Stanly (NC).  -pmp 6/5/2012
