EM GEORGE W. HAIGLER IS NOW BELIEVED DEAD
MONROE, Jan. 12. --Electrician’s Mate George W. Haigler 25, serving on the submarine Scamp, reported missing more than a year ago, has now been officially declared dead by the Navy department, his fater, J. D. Haigler of Marshville, Route 1, has been notified. October 16, 1944, the Scamp departed from Pearl Harbor on a war patrol. A message received November 9 indicated that she was in the patrol area but no further communication was ever received.
Young Haigler, who entered the service in October, 1941, is survived by his father, stepmother, seven brothers and a half-sister
