Wade H. Pope

Sgt. Wade H. Pope 34095735 son of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Pope, Marshville Route 1. He was born September 2, 1919 in Union County. He attended Union High School. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He married Miss Minnie Helms. One child Mary Magdalene Pope born August 15, 1944. He has two brothers, six sisters, Mrs. J.D. Pope of Monroe, Dr. Fred Pope of Marshville, Mrs. J. A. Smith of Pageland, Mrs. Ell Threatt of Monroe, Mrs. Isaac Watts of Mt. Crogham, Mrs. William High of Marshville, Mrs. Thomas Helms and Miss Louise Pope of the home.

He was drafted into Service August 7, 1941. He was 22 years of age. He entered into service at Fort Jackson, S.C. He took his basic training at Fort Bragg, N.C. He was a "Technician Fiffth Grade Sargeant." He went overseas in February 1944. He was killed in France August 1, 1944. He is buried in the Military Cemetery in France.. The memorial service was held over there.

He is gone but not forgotten, his precious memories linger on, many years have passed away but his sweet expressions will always remain.
