Thomas P. Dillon and Duncan McKenzie's acquired "The Monroe Furniture House from George McLarty in 1893.  In Feb. 1897, Thomas Dillon bought Duncan McKenzie's interest in the store and the name was changed to Thomas P. Dillon Furniture.  In 1917, it became known as T. P. Dillon & Sons.  The firm failed during the depression.  After 30 yrs. on the square, the store was moved from Franklin St. to a new building, corner of Main St. and Windsor St.
