Notes From The Monroe Journal, Friday, August 12, 1921, page 5, column 1: A merry-go-round and high striker will be two additions to be added to his "Coney Island" by Mr. J. E. [Earl] Shute. Mr. Shute has just returned from a trip to New York where he purchased these attractions. The merry-go-round has two chariots, 36 horses three abreast, and cost about $8,000. These amusement machines will come Monday by express and Mr. Shute expects to have them ready for the public by the following day.
