Notes This Rosenwald school building plan was known as a "Two-teacher type". The community raised $700.00, Public funds added $1,765.00 and the Rosenwald fund added $700.00. The school sat on two acres of land. The photo here appears to the front with the double entrance, however, the three windows that were originally on the very front expanded portion are not present. Some efforts were made around 1992 to preserve this building but those efforts did not succeed. (information about building plan and funds comes from Fisk University's Rosenwald Database - main site is http://rosenwald.fisk.edu - search only by state and then scroll their excellent list with photos!) Time period revised, Description updated, Notes added by Patricia Poland, Union County Public Library |
