"The Joffre Hotel, Incorporated:  100 Rooms of Union County Comfort"

100 guest rooms, a large dining room, rates from $1.25 - 2.00 per day. The hotel was the site of many of Monroe's most elaborate social events.  The First National Bank was also housed in special quarters constructed at the corner of the hotel.
Named in honor of the French general Joseph Joffre, hero of WW I.
