Description 

The County Home as pictured at the top of an envelope.  This building, built in 1911, was located on New Town Road.  It would be destroyed by fire January 12, 1929 (see Monroe Enquirer, 1/14/1929, p. 1).   It would be rebuilt in the same location and ready for the occupants about December 1929.

The County Home location is where Elizabethan Gardens now is.  Many of the original buildings associated with the home are still standing, including the main building from 1929.
